When will 200 rubles go into circulation? Money cities: new banknotes appeared in Russia for the first time in eight years. New banknote design

The introduction of banknotes in denominations of 200 and 2000 rubles, which have begun to enter circulation, will not affect inflation in Russia. This statement was made today, October 12, by the chairman, presenting new banknotes. The presentation was organized in the form of a teleconference Moscow - Vladivostok - Sevastopol. In addition to Elvira Nabiullina, it was also attended by CEO Goznak.

Earlier, the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank promised that the new banknotes would appear in circulation in October this year. As Elvira Nabiullina clarified today, the banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles are in circulation. will appear from October 12, and the first to receive them will be Moscow and the regions that are depicted on them: the Far East and Sevastopol. The Central Bank expects that the mass introduction of new banknotes will occur only in December.

Banknotes "will be introduced in stages, since banknotes are developed in strict secrecy - this is an international practice, this is how the Bank of Russia traditionally operates, and this is necessary to counter counterfeiters," Nabiullina noted.

The main color of the banknote of 200 rubles is green. It depicts the main symbols of Sevastopol. So, on the front side there is a Monument to the Scuttled Ships, and on the back - a view of Tauric Chersonesos.

According to the Central Bank in its release, the 200-ruble banknote "is printed on high-density cotton paper with polymer impregnation, which will ensure its high wear resistance and extend its life in circulation."

The two thousandth banknote is made in blue colors. On its front side there is a bridge to Russky Island, on the reverse side there is the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Amur Region. The optically variable protective element is made in the form of a stylized image of a bridge against the background of the sun, according to the regulator.

“The symbols for the new banknotes were chosen during a competition in 2016. Out of more than 5,000 applications, the interim list of the competition included 76 proposals with various attractions from 49 regions. Based on the results of the All-Russian sociological survey, 10 finalists were selected from this list. At the last stage of the competition, by voting throughout the country, in which more than 3 million people took part, the winners were determined - the symbols of the Far East and Sevastopol, ”the Central Bank writes in its release.

The emergence of new banknotes is likely to lead to additional costs for banks, experts say. “Banks will not have to re-equip the receivers in ATMs, small changes in the ATM software will be required,” the director of the payment card department comments on the situation. At the same time, the expert estimated the cost of updating the ATM software at 1% of the cost of the ATM itself.

As the director of card technologies at Promsvyazbank told Gazeta.Ru, “it will be possible to start preparing for the issuance and acceptance of new banknotes in our ATM network only after receiving samples of these banknotes.” So far they haven't been to the bank.

Preparing the ATM network to accept new banknotes will cost the bank $20,000-30,000 in direct costs plus labor costs for replicating updated settings to the network and reconfiguring ATM cassettes.

This is another 400-500 thousand rubles, Alexander Petrov notes.

As Gazeta.Ru was told in, the bank is already working on the re-equipment of its ATMs. “Suppliers of our ATMs have already begun updating templates for accepting new banknotes in denominations of 200 and 2,000 rubles. Ready templates will be installed on the ATM within the timeframe specified by the Central Bank. All work is carried out by the bank's partners within the framework of existing contracts,” the bank explained.

The press service, which owns payment terminals throughout the country, clarified to Gazeta.Ru that the company will not incur material costs in connection with the introduction of new banknotes. Qiwi expects to do all the work with the company's internal resources among analysts and developers. Qiwi terminals will be ready to accept new banknotes only by mid-December.

The company “will start adaptation as soon as CachCode, from which we are waiting for a new bill acceptor firmware, implement improvements on their side,” Qiwi noted. Currently, they are scanning a new 200-ruble note, and the 2,000-ruble note has not yet arrived, a company representative specified.

In addition to the need to re-equip ATMs, the introduction of new banknotes into circulation may increase the cost of collection, experts suggest.

Although the introduction of new banknotes in itself will not in any way affect the volume of the cash collection market, since the cost of services in this market practically does not depend on the physical volume of transported liquidity and the denomination of banknotes, but this may become a trigger for an increase in the tariffs of collectors, suggests the IFC CEO " Mani Fanny.

“After the release of new banknotes, the Central Bank will begin to actively adsorb and withdraw banknotes of lower denominations from circulation in order to avoid an increase in volumes. money supply in circulation, in connection with this, the load of collectors may increase, for which this will be a good reason to increase tariffs, ”says the expert.

However, despite all the difficulties, the introduction of new banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles is advisable, as it will simplify payments for goods and services. “A significant part of cash payments in Russia is in the range between 100 and 500 rubles, as well as between a thousand and five thousand rubles,” says Oleg Safonov, managing director of BCS Ultima.

At the same time, experts are confident that the introduction of new banknotes will not spur inflation. The Central Bank keeps statistics on the use of banknotes, notes the founder of Alekhin and Partners, so new banknotes have a negative impact on monetary system will not provide, but only make the hierarchy of banknotes more convenient, he summarizes

Russia will have new banknotes. In 2017, the Central Bank will print banknotes in denominations of 200 and 2000 rubles, and they will go to consumers' wallets. The regulator emphasizes that this is done for the convenience of citizens. Lenta.ru answered five main questions about the new Russian banknotes.

What happened?

In 2017, the Bank of Russia will put into circulation denominations of 200 and 2000 rubles. This was announced on April 12 by the head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina. How exactly the banknotes will look like is still unclear. Nabiullina only said that their design is supposed to be submitted for public discussion.

Symbols are now depicted on Russian banknotes Russian regions. We would like to keep this tradition, but at the same time give a start to a new tradition and make this choice public, - said the Chairman of the Bank of Russia.

The last time the Central Bank introduced new money was in 2009. Then a coin of 10 rubles appeared in Russia. Even earlier - in 2006 - they began to print red-orange five-thousand banknotes with a monument to Muravyov-Amursky and a bridge across the Amur River. In 2001, the Russians first got acquainted with the blue-green banknotes in denominations of 1000 rubles, dedicated to Yaroslavl.

In 2015, a petition appeared on the change.org website for the introduction of banknotes in denominations of 2000 rubles dedicated to Vladivostok. It was noted that in the collective unconscious, thanks to the song of the group "Mumiy Troll", the combination "Vladivostok-2000" was fixed. The petition collected 7,447 signatures out of 10,000 required.

The press secretary of the head of the Chechen Republic, Alvi Karimov, in turn, said that Grozny deserves to decorate the new banknote. "Beautiful city with worthy history. I am sure most Russians will agree with this. Terrible deserves to be depicted. And first of all, we are talking about the mosque "Heart of Chechnya",” he stressed.

Why is this needed?

“In our opinion, this will simplify the calculations of citizens for goods and services,” Nabiullina explained. According to the Bank of Russia, a significant part of payments in the country falls between 100 and 500 rubles, as well as 1,000 and 5,000 rubles. There is a steady demand for denominations of intermediate denominations. That is, the regulator introduces new money to make it more convenient for customers to pay in stores.

Why exactly 200 and 2000?

As already noted, for the convenience of consumers, intermediate denominations are needed. And this is 250 and 2500 rubles. Therefore, the regulator chose between 200 and 300, as well as between 2000 and 3000 rubles. Traditionally, in many countries of the world, banknotes with a “two” are used: 2 dollars, 2 fen (China, issued in the 50s of the last century), 200 euros, 200 hryvnias, 2000 Kazakh tenges and even 200 Russian rubles 1993.

It is likely that the Bank of Russia simply decided not to deviate from global standards. Moreover, a two-ruble coin has been circulating in the country for a long time. Although in the domestic tradition there are "troikas". Banknotes with a face value of 3 rubles were introduced in 1898 in Russian Empire, they were also used in the Soviet Union (of course, with an updated design). Three rubles survived until 1991, and in 2015 the Central Bank minted a commemorative coin of 3 rubles for the BRICS and SCO summit, which was held in Ufa.

How will the introduction of new banknotes affect inflation?

Elvira Nabiullina hastened to reassure everyone who is concerned fast growth prices, emphasizing that the issuance of banknotes of a new denomination will not affect inflation and the money supply in any way. In addition, the issue will not require additional special costs.

From an economic point of view, it is better to issue banknotes of this denomination when the inflation rate is 4-6 percent, Nabiullina noted. Recall that by 2017 the Bank of Russia plans to pay off the rise in prices just up to 4 percent. To this end, the regulator is conducting a strict monetary policy, expressed in a high key rate (11 percent per annum at the moment). Consumer activity of the population is destimulated, and the lower it is, the slower prices rise.

In addition, we are not talking about the unrestrained emission of unsecured rubles (sometimes presidential aide Sergei Glazyev calls for this - in his opinion, this will saturate the economy with cheap credit). Old banknotes will be gradually withdrawn from circulation, the amount of money will not change.

Will the Bank of Russia turn on the printing press?

Of course. To print new money, we will have to use the facilities of Goznak. But there is nothing wrong with that. Moreover, the so-called printing press is in full swing. The point is that the deficit federal budget covered by funds Reserve Fund. The financial "airbag" is formed from foreign exchange. The Ministry of Finance sells it to the Central Bank, the deal is secured by issuing new rubles.

The material was prepared on the basis of data from the Bank of Russia

The Central Bank plans to issue a new 100-ruble banknote dedicated to the World Cup, which will be held in Russia.

The banknote will be special not only due to its unique design, but also due to an unusual material for our country - plastic. As planned by the regulator, new banknotes in Russia should become recognizable all over the world.

But the plans of the Central Bank for the new 100 rubles are not limited to PR of the World Cup. The Central Bank does not exclude that the issue of a plastic banknote will be the beginning of the refusal to issue paper money. The launch of a new banknote format into circulation will allow us to assess the prospects for issuance in Russia plastic money.

About the new banknote

The new banknote is already preparing to see the light of day, but so far little is known about it, so for many citizens it will be a real surprise.

So what is known for certain about the new means of payment? As usual, the release of something new is dedicated to major events in the state. The last time the money underwent minor changes was during the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014. Now the bankers have decided to take a radical step and have made serious changes, both in the design and in the material of money. Then the banknotes were sold with a circulation of 20 million, this time there will be an order of magnitude less - only 20 thousand.

It all started a few years ago, when a special commission was convened for the issue, which was engaged in the adoption and consideration of projects appearance bank ticket. Each Russian had the opportunity to submit his own version. In the process, 49 competitive works were received, of which 6 pieces were selected - the most expressive and extraordinary.

Under the terms of the competition, at first only three prizes were calculated, but a little later this figure had to be increased. Thus, the authors of the most interesting projects received gratitude from Central Bank and a prize of 30 thousand rubles

One of the goals pursued by the organizers of the competition was to make the banknote the most recognizable in the world. Representatives of the regulator also stated other motives - to popularize sports, to interest not only collectors and fans, but also ordinary citizens. It is not known how they achieved their goal - time will tell.

Also, special emphasis was placed on the materials of production. These are polymers that wear out for quite a long time and, due to the special composition, are protected from fakes. The new money will become a full-fledged means of payment throughout the country.

The Central Bank has long been nurturing the idea to abandon paper money and the eve of the World Cup will be an excellent start for its implementation. This is a kind of pilot project of polymer money.

But now there are no concrete plans for the further development of this direction. Everything will be decided after the fact, depending on how this denomination will prove itself. It is also unknown how much money is needed for a large-scale release and whether it will be beneficial to the economy.
Perhaps, if the experiment succeeds, a complete replacement of paper with plastic will be made.

Benefits of plastic money

The prospect of issuing plastic banknotes in Russia raises the question of what is their advantage over paper ones. The main plus is quite obvious - banknotes made of polymeric materials are more durable.

Such banknotes do not absorb moisture, dirt and dust, they are much more difficult to tear or wrinkle, so they do not wear out longer.

So, paper money can be in circulation for about 6 months, after which it is withdrawn due to damage, while plastic banknotes can last up to 3 years. In addition, studies have shown that they are more hygienic, as bacteria accumulate on them less.

Another advantage is environmental friendliness. Less is needed to issue polymer banknotes production capacity, and it is much easier to process money withdrawn from circulation than paper money. It is also worth noting that reducing the consumption of paper helps to reduce the number of trees cut down.

Also, plastic banknotes are recognized as economical, although this is a rather controversial issue. On the one hand, it costs more to issue them than paper money, but thanks to the durability of polymer banknotes, the costs pay off in the long run.

Many experts note that plastic banknotes are more difficult to counterfeit. Modern printing technologies make it possible to create banknotes with additional security that cannot be counterfeited.

But this is also a controversial position, since fraudsters today have the equipment with which to counterfeit the most complex banknotes.

The disadvantages of plastic money should also be mentioned. The main disadvantage is the complexity of the transition from paper bills to polymers. So, it is necessary to adapt all ATMs for issuing new money, as well as to replace equipment for detecting counterfeit banknotes. Because of this, the introduction of plastic banknotes into circulation costs the country an impressive amount, which pays off in more than one year.

Central Bank plans for the future

There is information that one "hundredth" central bank Russia will not be limited in the future. Banknotes in denominations of 200 and 2000 rubles are expected to be updated soon, taking into account the latest developments of the Central Bank in relation to banknotes. Perhaps both will become plastic, perhaps only one of these bills. In any case, changing at least one of them appealed to a wide range of people.

A banknote with a face value of 100 rubles, as we said above in the text, will enter circulation literally on the eve of the 2018 World Cup. Back in 2016, there was news that the possibility of making a commemorative "money" using an unusual material was being considered. As a result, it became a polymer, in particular plastic, that is, plastic.

Some time later, Georgy Luntovsky, mentioned by us earlier in the text, personally argued why a plastic banknote is the most reasonable solution among all possible: because it is more durable, although a little more money will be spent on its production, unlike plain paper.

Banknote of 100 rubles for the World Cup

It is known that the circulation of this commemorative banknote is limited to 20 million copies. Exactly the same amount was issued by the Bank of Russia a little earlier, when the Olympic Games were held in Sochi in 2014. However, "hundred-ruble notes" were then paper. Now the emphasis is on plastic.

Prospects for Russia's transition to plastic money

It is too early to talk about a complete transition to new material money, and it is unlikely that anyone will give an accurate forecast regarding this issue

To date, the main regulator does not deny the idea of switching to completely plastic money in circulation. However, not yet exact plan and even strategies for this event. So, there is a theoretical possibility, since the equipment and experience in the production of such banknotes already exist. However practical implementation while it is delayed, because it will entail many difficulties and problems, so that the preparation itself can take not a single year and cost a round sum.

As always, the main problem is budget financing similar projects.

The biggest expenses will be caused by the issue of plastic money - polymeric materials are much more expensive than special paper. In addition, it will be necessary to pay for technology and equipment. Now not all printing presses able to handle high volume production.

There is also a third-party expense item - the adaptation of ATMs. In any case, commercial organizations will have to take it upon themselves, but so far they are not ready for such serious steps and will oppose the transition to plastic in every possible way.

In conditions lasting several years economic crisis, the government is unlikely to want to allocate money for all this, including for banks. So while there is no alternative to paper money and when the situation can change, it is unlikely that anyone will talk about it with a greater degree of probability.

Public opinion is also an important fact on the way to innovation. Most of the population has a negative attitude towards various kinds of innovations, especially in the field of finance. The reason for this is low level confidence in the whole system

It may happen that the transition will cause panic, pull inflation along with it, after which social tensions will grow even more.

To prevent all this from happening, officials need to carefully think through everything, develop a set of measures and do everything gradually. So, it will take extra time and money.

In any case, the release of plastic 100 ruble bills will become an event in itself, and will show further prospects for the development of this direction in Russia.
